She met and married Titus Ivory, who was part of an activist family that participated in many civil rights endeavors in Charlotte and Rock Hill, South Carolina. Ms. Ivory joined the McCrorey YMCA when her two sons were small, and became a stalwart board member and fundraiser, as well as a highly respected leader in the broader Charlotte community, and in Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. She talked at length about the role of the McCrorey YMCA in the Beatties Ford Road corridor, and her ideas for its future.
