Tom Webb grew up in Albemarle, North Carolina, and settled in Charlotte in the 1970s. As a real estate developer, he played a particularly significant role in the YMCA's suburban expansion. He described his work with enthusiasm, going into considerable detail about efforts that included the 1980s renovation of the Dowd Y, the development of the suburban Brace branch, and the founding of the Stratford Richardson branch.
