As a prominent gay activist in Charlotte, Mrs. Lawyer discusses the necessity of lesbian-centered groups and spaces to combat lesbian isolation and marginalization. While Mrs. Lawyer reflects on her work with many LGBTQ organizations, her work with the Gay and Lesbian Switchboard of Charlotte, and One Voice Chorus illustrates how lesbians and gay men were able to work together to build a united community. As in previous interviews, Mrs. Lawyer discusses in-depth her local work with Charlotte LGBTQ activists Don King (Donaldson Wells King), Angie Wheeler, and Jim Yarbrough.
