Description

Beatrice Hogan discusses her career as a nurse working in the military and in medical facilities in Charlotte, North Carolina, including St. Peter's Hospital and Charlotte Memorial Hospital. She recalls her memories of nursing school and her early years in the nursing profession during the 1930s. She also discusses her time as an Army medical nurse on the front lines of World War II and later as a reservist in Korea and Vietnam.

Biographical/Historical Note
Beatrice Hogan was a 77-year-old woman at the time of her interview, which took place in her home in the Charlotte. She was born in Lenoir, North Carolina in 1916. She was educated City Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and was employed as a nurse in hospitals in Charlotte and with the U.S. Army 38th Evacuation Hospital during World War II.
