Description

Karen Wimberly describes her career coaching the girls basketball team at Bandys High School in Catawba, North Carolina. Mrs. Wimberly talks about witnessing the Bandys girls basketball team participate in the district championship when she was younger and being enthralled by the large community support that the games brought. Ms. Wimberly believes that the team produces so many great players and never has a problem filling out both the junior varsity and varsity teams because of the overwhelming community support. She also talks about how she feels that womens' basketball skills are often undervalued and that women are just as talented as their male counterparts, but limited by the lack of future prospects in the sport.
