Description

Elizabeth McCall Callaway talks about learning to play basketball and her memories of playing on school teams in Catawba County and Charlotte, North Carolina. She played basketball starting in the seventh grade in Catawba County and played for four years while attending Geyers Business College in Charlotte. She describes the courts she used to play on, the rivalries and tournaments in which she participated, the team uniforms, and how the rules of the game have changed for women. According to Ms. Callaway, playing basketball taught her to keep up her grades, kept her out of trouble, and taught her good sportsmanship both on and off the court.
