Description

Long-time Charlottean Rosemary Lands discusses her and her family's experiences with the 1958 Billy Graham Crusade in Charlotte, North Carolina, which she attended at the age of twelve. Ms. Lands details the planning and community involvement prior to the crusade, and describes the tenor and activities of the crusade services themselves. She talks about what she sees as the long-term social and spiritual impact of the crusades on the greater Charlotte community. She also discusses how women organized and participated in daytime prayer meetings during the weeks-long crusade and describes the Charlotte Coliseum (now Bojangles Coliseum) and Ovens Auditorium and their role in the community.
