Ellie Perzel recounts the life of her late husband, Dr. Ed Perzel, and his lasting impact on the University of North Carolina at Charlotte as a history professor, Chair of the History Department, and Assistant Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences from the 1970s until his retirement in 2000. Topics discussed include Dr. Perzel's roots in the Northern USA; his relationships with UNC Charlotte administrators and faculty members, including Bonnie Cone and Dr. Dan Morill; his work as a regular commentator on Charlotte's National Public Radio (NPR) radio station WFAE; his efforts in the preservation of Charlotte's historic districts and landmarks, including Fourth Ward, the Independence Building, and the Dowd house; and finally his impact on the community of West Jefferson, NC through his engagement with local art organizations and schools during his retirement.
