Monika Soler-Correa, a University of North Carolina at Charlotte alumnus and a metadata cataloger at the J. Murrey Atkins Library, discusses her background and how that has influenced her life and worldview. Topics include her life as a Latina adopted as an infant and raised in a multicultural household. Other topics discussed by Soler Correa are past experiences as a UNC Charlotte student and working on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility (DEIA) committees in the library. Additionally discussed are her impressions of the lack of Latino employees in the library and other university areas and the importance of representation on campus for Latino students at UNC Charlotte. Lastly, she discusses Latino identity and the current debate regarding Latin identifiers such as Latino/a, Hispanic, Latinx, and Latine.
