Dr. Ann Carver discusses the development of the Women and Gender Studies Program at UNC Charlotte in the 1970s, illustrating the attitude towards women at the University at the time and the initiative of the female students who catalyzed the development of the program. Biographical/Historical Note
Dr. Ann Carver was an 82-year-old woman at the time of the interview, which took place via Zoom in her home in Gainesville, Florida. She was born in Henderson, North Carolina in 1940. She was educated at Limestone College, the University of Arkansas, and Emory University, and was employed as a professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Morehouse College, Limestone College, and National Kaohsiung Normal University in Taiwan.
