Pearl E. Grossman was a 71-year-old woman at the time of interview, which took place in Charlotte, North Carolina. She was born in Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania in 1907. She graduated from Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital of Philadelphia with a degree in nursing and was employed as a nurse with Hahnemann Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and as a volunteer nurse with Memorial Hospital and the Red Cross Blood Center.
