Biographical/Historical Note
Winslow H. Hartford was a 68-year-old man at the time of interview, which took place in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was born in Newton, Massachusetts in 1910. He obtained bachelor's degrees in chemistry and environmental sciences at Boston University and received his doctorate from MIT. He was employed as a chemical and environmental consultant and as a professor of environmental science at Belmont Abbey College.
