Description

Evelyn Jordan and her daughter Patricia Mackey discuss their lives in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina. Although they did not move to Washington Heights until 2002, both Ms. Jordan and Ms. Mackey attended the local West Charlotte High School. Topics discussed include West Charlotte High School, the Excelsior Club and other social highlights of the neighborhood such as movie theaters that have since closed, the building of Habitat for Humanity homes, deterioration of parts of the neighborhood over time, and local efforts to mitigate this deterioration through community service.
