Description

Tracy Price Green recalls her upbringing in the Washington Heights neighborhood of Charlotte, North Carolina during the 1960s and 1970s. She discusses her involvement in a local garden club, how well kept and attractive the neighborhood was, memories of her friends, and her activities, including going to the Ritz Theater and eating at the Chicken and Rib (now called the Original Chicken and Ribs) on Beatties Ford Rd. She describes how close knit her family and community was when she was growing up, and how the neighborhood started to decline after she went to college and graduate school. Ms. Green also discusses her vision and hopes for the neighborhood's revitalization in the future.
