Biographical/Historical Note
Interview took place in the Old Billingsville School (now the Grier Heights Community Center) room in Grier Heights, Charlotte, North Carolina.
Hawthorn Broadway was a 77-year-old man at the time of this interview. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1937. He was educated at Second Ward High School, and was employed as a warehouse worker for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools district.
L.C. Clifton was a 66-year-old man at the time of this interview. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1947. He was educated at Billingsville elementary school, Second Ward High School, and Myers Park high school. He was employed in concrete construction.
Willie E. Davis was an 86-year-old man at the time of this interview. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1928. He was educated at Billingsville Elementary School and Second Ward High School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree at Johnson C. Smith University, and his Master of Arts degree at Columbia University. He was employed as a teacher and Federal executive.
Marvin E. Price was a 66-year-old man at the time of this interview. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1948. He was educated at Billingsville Elementary School, Second Ward High School, and Bull City Barber College in Durham, North Carolina. He was employed as a barber.
George A. Wallace was a 71-year-old man at the time of this interview. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1943. He was educated at Billingsville Elementary School and Second Ward High School. He was employed as a security officer.

Condition
There is quite a bit of background noise and the participants are difficult to understand in some instances. However, the great majority of what they are saying is clearly understood.
