Howard Godfrey was Professor Emeritus of Accounting at UNC Charlotte and 75 years old at the time of this interview. He received his B.S. from Mississippi College, his M.Acc. from the University of Mississippi, and his Ph.D. from the University of Alabama. He joined the Belk College faculty in 1975. Dr. Godfrey is a Certified Public Accountant in North Carolina and a member of the American Accounting Association, the American Taxation Association, the Financial Executives Institute and the American Institute of CPAs. He is the author of Handbook on Tax Exempt Organizations. His accounting and tax articles have been published in The Tax Adviser, Government Finance Review, The Oil and Gas Tax Quarterly, and The National Public Accountant. In 1994, Dr. Godfrey received the Accounting Educator Award from the N.C. Association of CPAs. Stephen Jolly was Associate Professor of Accounting (Retired) at UNC Charlotte and 74 years old at the time of this interview. He was born in Shelby, NC and joined the Belk College faculty in 1975. Dr. Jolly’s area of specialization was financial accounting. He is a recipient of the NCNB Teaching Award (now the Bank of America Teaching Award), and served as the chair of the UNC Charlotte Curriculum Committee, Hearing Committee, and was a member of the Faculty Executive Committee. Ben Nunnally was Professor Emeritus of Finance at UNC Charlotte and 76 years old at the time of this interview. He joined the Belk College faculty in 1979. Dr. Nunnally served as chair of the Department of Finance from 1988-1997. His area of specialization was business finance and financial management. His research included corporate leasing analysis and the valuation of small private businesses. He is the author of three textbooks. He was a 2004-2005 recipient of the Gray’s MBA Faculty Award, and was recognized for his teaching and course development in the UNC Charlotte Honors Program.
