An interview with Dr. William E. Laukaitis, Instructional Production Coordinator and Video Manager at UNC Charlotte, and recording of the video studio and distance learning programs. Dr. Laukaitis describes the two telecommunications networks that UNC Charlotte is a member of and how they contribute to distance learning programming. The first went online in 1985, and later expanded to 18 universities in the UNC system. The other program is the NC Information Highway. It has 70 educational sites in NC, including high schools and community colleges. These programs allow UNC Charlotte to provide courses to people throughout the state who don't have access to the physical campus. The interview ends at about 7:40, then the camera crew records video of employees in the studio and of distance learning programming, including a live class with distance learning technology in the classroom.
