Recording of an event held at UNC Charlotte on February 26th and 27th, 1999 for the AIDS memorial quilt. Begins with music playing and view of the outside of a UNCC campus building. People are working on assembling panels of an AIDS quilt in a gymnasium and setting up for an event. (3:49) Title screen. (4:14) AIDS Quilt event is sponsored by UNC Charlotte and RAIN. (5:33) Chancellor Jim Woodward speaks on how AIDS and HIV have touched his life as a university administrator and how AIDS/HIV is affecting the larger community. (12:20) Bob Derrick [?], UNC Charlotte faculty member speaks. (13:35) County Commissioner at-large Jim Richardson speaks, whose son is honored in the AIDS quilt. (17:05) Quilt unfolding teams take their places. (18:25) Mayor Pat McCrory speaks.(20:30) Jim and Mary Richardson begin reading the names of those honored in the AIDS quilt.
