Bailey Patrick was a 60 year-old man at the time of the interview, which took place over the telephone. He was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mr. Patrick was educated at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and worked in commercial real estate. He was also employed as the chairman for the Dowd YMCA and was also on the Board of Trustees at the YMCA of Greater Charlotte.

Charlotte native Bailey Patrick played a key role in assembling land for several Charlotte Y projects, most notably the Stratford Richardson branch. The interview covered those efforts as well as discussions of racial diversity within the YMCA and the organization's Christian-focused mission.
