Cleo A. Yongue recounts her thirty-six year career as a nurse for the Mecklenburg County Health Department and her experiences in the Brooklyn community in Charlotte, North Carolina, also known as Second Ward. She describes her work as an African American nurse in the Mecklenburg County Health Department during segregation, which included performing house calls, school visits, and working in maternity and well baby clinics in Brooklyn.
